Description
Generic Trailer Spring: 1_3/4” wide, 6 Leaf, 14″ (26″) approx: 2,900 lbs.
Repair or replace your trailer’s suspension with our US-1083 double-eye leaf spring, also known as an eye-by-eye trailer spring, designed for reliable performance and optimum load-carrying capacity on light-duty trailers. Built from heat-treated spring steel, each trailer spring is engineered to handle loads while reducing bounce, excessive friction, and sway on the roughest of roads.
US-1083 Technical Specifications
Before ordering, compare the US-1083 measurements and capacity with your existing spring and trailer requirements. The US-1083 specifications include:
- Load capacity: Approximately 2,900 lbs per spring
- Combined pair capacity: Approximately 5,800 lbs
- Leaf count: Six-leaf design
- Spring pack thickness: 2.16 inches
- Width: 1-3/4 inches
- Spring length: 26 inches, with 14-inch end measurements
- Spring-eye ID: 9/16 inch, or .562 inch
- Design: Double-eye trailer leaf spring
This is a common style of leaf spring that features an “eye” at both ends of the spring with nylon or brass bushings. We recommend confirming the bushing material installed when required for your application.
Best Fit for 5,000- to 5,800-lb Trailer Applications
A matched pair of US-1083 springs provides approximately 5,800 pounds of combined capacity. Common applications may include:
- Mid-sized utility trailers
- RVs and Campers
- Tandem-axle cargo trailers
- Boat Trailers
- Medium horse trailers
- Equipment haulers.
6-Leaf vs. 7-Leaf: Choosing the Right Ride
When choosing the right spring, it’s always recommended to consider capacity, dimensions, axle specifications, and normal operating weight, not leaf count alone.
- The 6-leaf US-1083 carries approximately 2,900 pounds per spring:
With one fewer leaf and a thinner spring pack, the US-1083 may provide a less rigid ride when the trailer is empty or partially loaded, helping limit harsh movement transferred to sensitive cargo.
- The 7-leaf US-1088 is listed at approximately 3,400 pounds per spring
The seven-leaf US-1088 is the better option when the application requires additional load support.
Compatible Mounting Hardware for the US-1083 leaf spring
The US-1083’s 9/16-inch spring eyes are compatible with properly sized suspension hardware, including 9/16-inch by 3-inch knurled suspension bolts, standard or greaseable versions. Installation may also require 1-3/4-inch spring hangers, matched shackle links, lock nuts, and bushings.
For tandem-axle trailers, an equalizer connects the springs and shackles so suspension movement can be distributed between the axles. Equalizer dimensions, hanger rise, and shackle length vary by trailer, so these parts must be selected according to the existing suspension geometry rather than the leaf spring length alone.
