John’s Spring and Suspension is one of the oldest suspension repair shops in the Reno area. We are locally owned and operated and pride ourselves on having the right part, right now, and doing the job right the first time. And because we know a broken suspension is a loss in productivity for our commercial clients, we can often get jobs done on the same day.
U-Bolts are a single-use style of bolt that holds the axle to the leaf spring assembly. The top of the leaf spring assembly typically attaches to the frame of the vehicle. Retainer Clips keep the leaves within the leaf spring pack from moving side to side.
If your truck or vehicle is used for towing and the suspension isn’t holding up to the weight, we can add one or more leaves to your springs.
Vehicle springs can sag 1-2% height a year depending on weight carried, average road conditions, and driving style. We can re arch your springs to bring the vehicle back up to its original ride height. Arching is most effective with adding a leaf as the new leaf will add additional support for the re-arching process.
If you have a broken leaf in your spring pack, it is more cost effective to have it replaced than to buy all new springs. We can have it replaced in a matter of hours and have all hardware necessary in stock for any vehicle. The only consideration for needing new springs would be if the originals are very rusted with noticeable pitting.
Our fleet service shop can handle all large trucks and buses. We have torque rod and torque rod bushings in stock, hangars, shackles, spring pins, and other components to repair or replace your heavy duty truck suspension. We specialize in walking beam suspension, most commonly found on water trucks, dump trucks, and other vocational applications. We are a fraction of the cost of our competitors and can have your truck back to you on the same day.
We carry a wide range of trailer spring and suspension components in stock. We can replace any suspension parts, axles, jack legs, and a whole host of other components. Feel free to ask us about any trailer related issue you might have.
We can upgrade your spring capacity on a utility trailer to handle additional weight. Often stock trailers have the lowest weight rated springs compatible with the trailer and do not hold up to normal abuse. If you already pushed that weight limit and find yourself with a broken spring, we can help. Or if you know you need your utility trailer to work harder for you, we can install heavy duty springs to increase its longevity and capacity.
We can service suspension, bearings and brakes all in one appointment. When we are servicing trailer suspension, we take the wheels off and check the bearings and brakes to ensure all parts of the trailer are inspected. If there is an issue with the brakes, we have the parts and equipment to repair or replace them. We service both manual and self-adjusting electric trailer brakes.
Periodic wheel bearing maintenance is necessary to keep them from overheating and failing. To avoid a wheel bearing failure, you should regularly repack your wheel bearings. For heavy use utility trailers, this should be done once a year. If you have a large RV and travel regularly, you should do this every year as well, or every 10,000 miles. If you’re not taking your RV on extended trips and it’s smaller, you should do it every year or 2,000 miles.
When your trailer is at John’s Spring for larger suspension or brake repairs, we can also handle welding and minor repairs so you only have to bring your trailer in once, to one shop. These repairs can be in cases of wear and tear, damage, or increased security for the components of your trailer, such as batteries or propane tanks.
Our shop is outfitted with several welders, a sheer, benders, drills, grinders, and a host of other tooling that can help custom make a multitude of things from brackets, mounts, to fencing or bench seats. If something has come loose or a weld has broken, bring it buy and we can repair it for you.
We consider ourselves problem solvers at John’s Spring and will do our best to tackle every issue that is out there. We have removed and replaced pickup beds, completed trailer projects, installed brackets, tie downs, and ladder racks.
