Shackles allow the spring to contract and rebound during suspension travel. This is particularly true when the trailer moves over bumps, potholes, or uneven terrain. This movement helps absorb shock and maintain weight distribution and tire contact with the ground. These essential components connect the leaf spring’s rear eye to the hanger welded to the trailer frame. On two or three axle trailer configurations, the shackles connect the leaf spring to the equalizer. This allows the leaf springs to flex and move as the trailer navigates over rough terrain.
